Bolgheri, localita’ della Toscana, frazione del comune di Castagneto Carducci ( prov.
Livorno), su un colle alto 96 m. Ai piedi del colle la cappelletta di S.Guido, costruita nel secolo scorso. Da qui parte il viale fiancheggiato da splendidi cipressi che porta a
Bolgheri;
Il viale, il cui allestimento risale al secolo scorso, è stato immortalato dall’ode del Carducci- ” Davanti S. Guido” che inizia con i bei versi:
(“I Cipressi che a Bolgheri alti e schietti van da S. Guido in duplice filar…” ).
E qui, sul declivio di un colle rivestito di ulivi secolari è il ridente paesino di
Bolgheri.
Il castello, appartenente ai Della Gherardesca, è stato restaurato nel XIX secolo.
Nel paese, dalle caratteristiche casette raccolte intorno alla piazza principale, rimane vivo il ricordo del poeta che “qui trascorse la fanciullezza”; la casa del Carducci; il cimitero ove è sepolta nonna Lucia

Bolgheri, is located within
the district of Castagneto Carducci ( Tuscany ) in the province of Livorno
and is situated on a hill some 96 meters above sea level. At the base of
the hill is the chapel of San Guido that was constructed during the past
century. It is here where the famous avenue, adorned with splendid cypress
tress, originates and leads the way to the village of Bolgheri;
The avenue that originated during the early 1900’s was immortalised
through famous poem of Carducci, “Davanti S. Guido” which begins
with this beautiful verse:
(“I Cipressi che a Bolgheri alti e schietti van da S. Guido in
duplice filar…” )(The Cypress trees of Bolgheri, tall and regal,
leading from san Guido in duplicate rows..).
It is here. at the top of a
hill covered with century old olive trees, that one finds the enchanting
village of Bolgheri.
The castle, a property of
the Della Gherardesca Family was restired in the 19° th century. In this
illage where the typical small homes surround the principle square, the
memory of the poet remains alive “Where he passed his youth”;
the house of Carducci, the cemetery where Grandmother Lucia is laid to
rest.
